At the start of the new semester in August, 105 students at Niles North High School in Skokie, Illinois, had chosen to learn Chinese as a world language.
Four months ago, a group of over 40 students from this school received a letter in亚博国际娱乐平台官方线路419
reply from President Xi Jinping encouraging them to make greater progress in studying Chinese.
Tedd Bowen, director of world languages at Niles Township High School District 219, said C
419hinese classes began in 2008 following requests from parents and a student interest survey.
“American public schools are increasingly aware of th
e economic, political and strategic needs for learning Mandarin Chinese,” he said in an email.
Recalling the letter exchange with China’s leader, Bowen said he was most impres
sed that the students received a personalized response. “We are honored to receive it,” he said.
When the students in their first year of studying Chinese began practicing asking qu
estions and writing, their teacher had them write a letter to Xi as practice, Bowen said.
The teacher “wa亚博国际娱乐平台官方线路419品茶微信s pleased with how well they did, so the students voted on the letter they wanted to send”, he said.
In the letter, the students said that they love the Chinese language and character
s, as well as music and Chinese food, and that they would love to have the chance to visit China.
419The letter was sent to the Chinese consulate in Chicago and then sent on to Beijing.
In his reply, Xi welcomed the students to visit China and said he hopes that they will ma
ke contributions to promoting friendship between the Chinese and American peoples.
It was not the first time this year that Xi has replied to letters to foreign stu
dents who are studying Chinese and praised their enthusiasm for Chinese culture.

Xi, head of the committee, said deepening reform is a major indicator that the P

?The State Council Information Office on Sunday issued a white paper
419on historical matters concerning Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region in northwest China.
China is a unified multiethnic country, and the various ethnic group

419injiang’s development has been closely related to that of China, the white paper said.
However, in more recent times, hostile forces in and outside China, especially se

ak it apart by distorting history and facts, the document, titled “Historical Matters Concerning Xinjiang”, said.
419Xinjiang has long been an inseparable part of Chinese territory. Never has it bee
n the so-called “East Turkistan.” The Uygur ethnic group came into being throug亚博国际娱乐平台官方线路419品茶微信

In Xinjiang, different cultures and religions coexist, and ethnic cultures have been fostered and developed in the embrac

ken root in the Chinese culture and developed soundly in China, the document said.
The surge in religious extremism around the world has caused a rise in religious extremis

“Xinjiang’s fight against terrorism and extremism is a battle for justice and civilization
against evil and barbaric forces. As such it deserves support, respect and understanding,” it said.
The document said that some countries, organizations and individual

criticism of Xinjiang’s effort. This kind of criticism betrays the basic conscience and j亚博国际娱乐平台官方线路419品茶微信

China’s GDP growth slowed to 6.2 percent year-on-year in the second quarter, its slowest pace in the 27 years since qua

The US House of Representatives enacted the Taiwan Assurance Act of 2019 and passed a resolution reaffirming the US’ commitment to Taiwan on May 7, which es

That the US has continued to meddle in Taiwan affairs shows it is desperate to use the “Taiwan card” to contain the Chinese mainland.
The US believes that by consolidating its relationship with Taiwan authorities through a

f Washington getting involved in a war across the Straits if the DPP indeed tries to split the country.
Following the DPP’s ideology of making Taiwan an independent entity, t

To send a clear message against secessionism to the Tsai administr
